Whenever I am online window shopping (which is pretty much everyday) I have began to realise there is a bit of a theme going on.
Just show me a top in white or cream that features either lace, embroidery, crochet or broderie anglaise and I fall hook, line and sinker in love with not just the prettiness, but also the ease of which a top like this can be worn. They work beautifully with jeans and take your outfit up a notch from the usual t-shirt/jean combo and I love them with denim shorts and tan sandals on holidays and warm summer days. Perhaps there is something to being born in the 1960's that brings about a deep seated affection for a bohemien vibe. Peace man and all that!
Corina Crochet Top £49 Phase Eight
John Lewis Collection Floral Embroidered Top £49
Gerard Darel Ecru Shirt £185
Fluid Crepe Lace Top £69 French Connection

J Crew Silk Crepe De Chine Top £150

See what I mean about styling them with your shorts? Such a great look for summer, especially if you are lucky enough to have legs like two bits of string gah!

Tess embroidered Gauze Top £315 Isabel Marant
Although the Marant would be top of the wishlist (lottery win required) I think you will agree there are some gorgeous options to achieve this look on the high street.
Luckily I have a Ecru coloured one which I wore out the other day. It has lace detail on the yoke and the sleeves, with a scattering of broderie anglaise throughout, so when all else fails, I chuck this on with jeans and with Charlie on his first day of the Easter Holidays, I tried my hardest to pose for a photo which is so so hard, I am so uncomfortable having my photo taken and I have to say I didn't realise how bad the smog was until I saw these pictures, or perhaps it is just the unskilled teenage photographer in charge of my iphone?
