I can't remember the last time I did a haul post, I seem to just buy the odd (often cheap) thing here and there lately, but the Baukjen clearance sale changed all that and being as I didn't manage to get a sunshine break during half term, you know me, the birthday and Christmas money I had managed to keep hold of was burning a rather large hole in my wallet so I decided to invest in some much needed pieces that even though were from the A/W collection, would take me through to summer with what I consider to be an investment purchase thrown in for good measure!
I was also very pleased with myself that all my purchases were one's I featured on the blog here. I do try to practice what I preach and with one purchase from my "cocktail hour" one from my "investment dressing" and two from my "laid back luxe" sections, it is obvious what kind of lifestyle I lead! Yes you guessed it, I doss about in joggers when home with just the odd change into a beauty tunic when a client arrives!
I have tried it all on but very quickly as each parcel arrived so I was in the sitting room in front of the mirror standing on the sofa trying to get a full length view, not exactly blog worthy snaps, although when my husband finally moves the junk from the upstairs hall, I may take some shots in front of the full length mirror!
1. Chambray shirt.
Originally £85 now £25.50.
My first order consisted of the dark chambray shirt. I already own a pale denim one but was very much aware of the extra versatility a darker version would provide. Beautifully made, quality soft and comfortable fabric, a worthy purchase.
2. Maja Joggers.
I first invested in the pale grey Baukjen joggers in the summer sale last year as a comfortable daytime alternative to jeans for lounging around in, then with the explosion of joggers fast becoming a fashion item to actually wear outside of the house, with heels even, they got far more wear than anticipated and I have a draft blog post somewhere from months ago singing their praises which I have never got round to finishing but I knew that it was essential to purchase another pair.
I was unsure of the sizing as this seems to have changed since the rebranding from Isabella Oliver to Baukjen took place, so I was a bit lost as my old pair just had a letter inside to depict their size, so I ordered 2 pairs, the Medium and the Large. I do find the brand is generous in sizing but never dreamed the medium would really fit, but remember as an apple shape my fat is not around my hips and legs and surprisingly the medium was fine. I was really pleased as they were in the dark grey which I really wanted and not the blue. Luckily the blue came in handy for my eldest daughter who is a pear shape and they fitted her perfectly and looked really cool styled with her Superga trainers, t-shirt, biker jacket and the London Fashion Week must have, a neon beanie!
3. Iris Cropped Cardi.
Not really cropped, well not on my frame anyway and I was pleasantly surprised by the very subtle metallic thread which means you could wear this for day or evening. I do love a cardigan and this will go over the chambray shirt a treat.
4. The Kate Sequin dress.
Was £199 now £59.70.
Now this is what I consider the investment purchase, even at only a quarter of the original price.
It may not get worn for a while but every Christmas I swoon over sequins and sparkle and dream of being able to wear a grown up sequin dress and this one certainly fits that bill with it's sophisticated draped styling. Shame I didn't have it for the James Bond themed party last weekend.
To me the brand is the epitome of effortless style and believe it or not, if I could just have Baukjen pieces in my wardrobe I would be a very happy lady, I so want to go back and get another half a dozen pieces!
